The author has a knack for those earthly heart-warming sentiments common to everyday experiences that people are familiar with. Tied together with a collection of seemingly mundane experiences the reader is asked to empathize with the basic qualities that make those same common events seem to an outsider to be personal and therefore important to the reader. It reads a bit like a diary and flourishes on that trait alone

Sorry I couldn't make it. In case news didn't reach you yet (I'll try and update this thing sometime this month I promise) Cameron was getting married that afternoon, and as the Maid of Honor I had to be at the reception that night. Hope your birthday was wonderful, and you had a great time with all the peeps that made it up. Maybe next year I can make it up too. 8-)
