Pixar weekend :3

I am very disappointed that no one has posted glee over Wall-E. Ergo, I will fill this void myself. v_v

1.) Should I bother to mention that a new Pixar film was pretty? Is that as pointless as saying, "Gee, the new Final Fantasy lead is quite androgynous!"? Regardless, there are several scenes in Wall-E that were completely stunning. Its opening sequence blew me away and it stayed gorgeous up until the end (the ending credit sequence is one of my favorite parts of the whole movie!).

2.) The music was pretty too. I don't have a whole lot to say here as most of the tunes have evaporated from my brain, but I remember the music as being haunting and uplifting and very scene-appropriate.

3.) I really loved the overall theme(s) of the movie! Pixar movies usually have an overarching theme bolstered up by subplots and subtext that culminates into a scene of conflict with a pithy line neatly encompassing the espoused philosophy. (Ratatouille had, like, 12 of these, really.) I'm usually pretty down with what the movie is saying since I find it hard to disagree with things like "If you look beyond your differences, you'll find some pretty awesome people!" and "If you hide away from anything that might be dangerous, it will be difficult to lead a fulfilling life!". (My one exception is The Incredibles, which I found an entertaining and exciting movie but whose theme--when everyone is special, no one will be--left me very slightly bewildered and unnerved.)

But Wall-E! It was sort of a love story to life itself--both about a traditional yearning to be with someone special, and about realizing how amazing the world around us is. I am down with that. :D

4.) Dang but that robot was cute!

In closing, that movie rocked. :)
