I've got a copy of East of Eden on my night stand waiting to get started. Interested in book-clubbing it?

I'm sorry I didn't answer you--it wasn't intentional. I guess every time I sat down for LJ time, I was *out* of time once I'd finished trying to go back through my FL posts.
I HAVE discovered that I need to read more GOOD fiction, and not just the cheap, easy chick lit fiction. I always get annoyed by bad or obvious plot development, and then I go, "Oh yeah, this isn't Bronte...I forgot." It's like the time I tried reading "Jane Austen in Boca", which was an homage to Pride and Predjudice. It wasn't satisfying at all, and I discovered that if I'm in the mood to read Pride and Predjudice, I should just read Pride and Predjudice!!

I recommend Power of One (by Bryce Courtney). It is my husband's favorite. I recommend anything by Anita Diamant or Sena Jeter Naslund. Both great authors with strong female characters!
