My digital camera is driving me bonkers. I have used the video feature many times and was always able to upload the clips to my computer and then view them with winamp. Yesterday, I recorded a couple of clips, and they'll upload to the PC just normal, but then when I want to play them, there's only sound, no picture. (The thumbnail is completely ( Read more... )

I don't know about digital cameras, but when people can only hear and not see the clips I used to make and upload, the problem was usually that they had the wrong codec. could you have deleted it or uninstalled it by mistake?

that could be. But how the hell would I know which codec that was and where I got it from?

try a clip that you've made in the past, play it in windows media player and then right click in the viewing window and pick properties, it should tell you what codec you used. and then you can do a search for it on your computer, or just look online for a free one - another thing to try would be to download the "VLC player" - it's free and comes with most of the codecs you need to play most common clips built in. if your clip doesn't work with that it may be something about how the clip was made :(

Turns out they work just fine in QuickTime. And youtube accepted them, too. So all is well. Thanks for helping!!!!
