how would you cast your favourite book if it were being made into a movie? Oh gosh, this is hard. I guess my favorite book is Seymour : An Introduction by Salinger, but let's say it's just a fairly epic Glass family movie (combining that book, Raise High, a couple of the ( Read more... )

oh my god, i really like you a lot summer and i might have made the same choices as you did if pressed to cast people in those roles but i shouldn't have read this because now i'm scared that the next time i crack these books, i'll be picturing these people.

ok, so now we have cast johnny depp as Dream, Crowley, AND seymour glass? I am not sure though--i think i sort of am sticking to my idea that seymour has to be more wiry and delicate and golden than johnny depp. which also leaves out luke wilson, but i think that's okay, as i want seymour to be more blonde and fair and gold in contrast to the rest of the family, which i have cast dark, and johnny and lukers are both too olive and dark.
yeah awesome!! also i cancelled out jakob dylan and cast the twins as adrian brody (walt) (delicate little one must be the dead one) and joaquin phoenix as waker. i know i said rotund for waker but i think joaquin is a nice compromise. and could be fraternal twin to adrian brody. yup.

i must interject here... doesn't seymour have a huge nose? and he's taller than johnny depp. i've always seen him as a somewhat dashingly handsome, straight haired, wide eyed, and slow moving kramer.
this, though, is the best question i have ever heard of and now i have to go back and read all of them again.
btw, summer. seymour is my favorite book too... straaaaange.

Maybe Brody should be Seymour. I can kind of see that. I dunno, Seymour was by far the hardest character for me to cast cuz I'm so attached to him and... yeah... I really don't know.

Generally, I think Salinger's work would make for terrible movies, but casting is fun anyway.

I've never read those books. But I always approve of casting Johnny Depp in stuff.
