Golden Globes 2006 red carpet, baby!

Jan 17, 2006 12:02

First post to this here modest li'l fashion journal.

Live red carpet coverage courtesy of e! No other option available in the UK, as far as I know.

Ryan Seacrest - mmmm. Okay, he's a presenter, but mmm.

Pictures coming in as I copy and paste the links. It's 2.30am. It's late. May give up before they're done

Next day. Done so more. Some photos of dresses not what I hoped. This by no means a comprehensive look at dresses. I got burnt out, red carpet wise. Links from imdb fairly stable, unsure about the rest. Yahoo better than me for pics.

Spoilers for who got awards in the photos.

Matthew Fox's wife's dress - nononono.

Sandra Oh - Taupe, all pinky creamy, slinks and flows lovely, fits great. She's not always on the money but she is this time.

Anne Hathaway - Red lipstick too much. Navy dress alright but nothing special. Worked with her pale skin, though.

Jane Seymour - Pink dress and ash-blonde hair. Works good from what little I could see. Shiny pink matching bracelet. Hmm. Her hair looks positively ginger in that photo.

Show us some Teri Hatcher. It's so hard to get a good angle on the shiniest dress around.

Eric Bana's looking gooood.

Virginia Madsen - Shiny purse. Silver dress she just manages to stay in. Quite dramatic in long shot.

Teri! So blunt, can't walk in those shoes, trying to run away from crazy presenter. Heee! She amuses me. Oh, yeah. The dress. Versace. Not sure. Dark gold, so very tightly fitting and severe but flares out nicely at the legs. Kinda fish-like. Photo it looks better in.

Jaime Pressly from "My Name Is Earl"
Wearing Escada - strapless, gold and white and patterned and oh so gorgeous.

Apparently, Nicolette Sheridan's not showing up. Bailed at last minute.

Eva Longoria doesn't know why, and I hate to admit it but her vividly red dress and very tall strappy shoes are actually quite nice. Oh my god, the main red carpet host (not Mr Seacrest) is asking some uncalled-for questions tonight. They've gotta switch him and not pretend nothing's wrong.

Natalie Portman. Very short hair but she can just carry it off with her bone structure. Beautiful strapless black lacy dress. No necklace. But a gorgeous brooch at her waist. Go for it, girl. Vintage Chanel from the 50s.

Mmm, George Clooney. 'nuf said.

Ooh, saw back of Marcia Cross' dress. Orange. She looks so pretty! Want to see more. She had some arty shots for her Sunday Times interview last weekend.

Bless, Dom's looking like Dom. Messy. Hair has taken over.

Ziyi Zhang - Lime green. Not sure. Or was it always acid yellow? Photos confuse me!

Candice Bergen - All black from head to toe. Matte top. Shiny skirt. It works.

Debra Messing - kept only seeing brief shots of her. Dress didn't make a big impression from the little I saw.

Cynthia Nixon - Great earrings and lovely curled pulled back, blow-dried hair. Not so sure about the dress.

Keira - Gorgeous white dress. Valentino. Earrings vintage Cartier. Pretty little bag with a folded bits at each side with shinysparkly buttons.

Reese Witherspoon - Keep seeing glimpses. Want to see dress!

Felicity Huffman - White and grecian. Very nice. Nothing to complain about.

Kate Beckinsale - Fur stole, it looks like. Already put off.

Seen more of the Marcia dress from the front - I think it'll photograph well but I'm not so sure it actually looks good. Needs more support for her. Make-up very strong, especially blusher, but again, will look better photographed. Colour of dress great on her. Dress design actually quite good, but not suiting her enough to bring the wow factor I wanted for Marcia like last time.Very sweet and giggly when talking to the host

Gwynnie - Balenciega design. Elizabethian style. Top half works. But the shreddedness down from there? Not so much.

Name unsure - sparkly top, straight and pleated white from the waist. Very pretty. It's a Maria Bello... I think.

Sarah Jessica Parker- strapless, all black, can't make it out that well. How the the heck is she holding up all that hair, though?

Charlize? Has a black thing attacking her dress. Get it off. Get it off!

There are so many flashes of gorgeous dresses on the red carpet, I don't have time to write them all down. I'm about managing keywords for the main people, nevermind the ones I'm having trouble naming. And this is a bad time for my naming skills to go. I couldn't even remember Reese's or Felicity's name for some time. Eeek.

Hilary Swank - I was so annoyed with myself for not remembering her name I forgot to take down details of her dress! This is one for photo flicking through. Bah. Ah, is up on the stage. Jane Hugh dress? All black, backless. Unsure of it.

Johnny Depp - Looking totally ruffled as usual, although it's so ruffled this year it looks too done. Wearing red shirt, black suit.

Penelope Cruz - Big hair! Wow.Tiny woman. Oh, yes, the dress, got distracted from it.

Nicolette is there after all. Silly rumour. Lovely blue dress.

Reese Witherspoon - Props for wearing something that suits her figure, though I'm not sold on the colour combination. Looks different in the photos to on camera. Hadn't seen the flare in the dress.

Scarlett Johansson - Very red. Definitely dramatic. Hair down for a change.

Geena Davis - Prada. Another dramatic red against pale skin. Fishtail design (seems to be a trend). Red high heels with sparkly heel.

Mira Sorvino - Pretty dress. Can't remember it that well.

Evangelline Lilly - Green. Pretty.

Renee Zellwegger - Black. Lovely dress. High slit, cut up to nearly the waistline but overall a subtle design, rubbish at describing it but it just works, really works. Definite highlight. Don't know if the layers will show up in photos.

Mariah Carey - Lagerfeld. Subtle as usual. *cough*

Not sure who is in the peach dress but I'm not taken by it. Oh, it's Rosario Dawson.

Oooh, someone in a strapless shocking pink in the far background. That's different. Wish I could have made out who it was!

All over with now. Aww.

...I'm trying to ignore the photos of Michelle Williams and That Dress but it's proving difficult, alas.

Yoon-jin Kim from Lost - didn't see her live on the red carpet and am not getting a very good picture of her dress.

Jamie Foxx looking pretty slick. Like the purple.

Laura Linney - Also with the red. I'm feeling a bit overdosed on the red now. Looks good, though.

Harold Perrinau from Lost - bless. Except not.

Rachel Weisz - ....

Colin Firth & Emma Thompson - ....

Sarah Wayne Callies - Don't know you but that dress - no, just say no.

No Cate Blanchett this year. *sniff*

Edit: Found a better picture of Renee's dress at style.com, through smofbabe's journal, who also has a fashion critique going on.
