He knew that she just wanted attention and he continued to give it to her as shamelessly as he would to Marlene. Because we know that Barret is one tough badass, but he's got that soft spot that makes this possible.

I love it. It was exactly what I wanted. I'm glad you didn't make Barret some loud-mouthed stereotypical black dude (you kept his honest, stubborn side showing) and that Yuffie wasn't some hyperactive brat. And I really like the comparsion to Marlene, for some reason.
