Summary: Watanuki has a secret.
I finally finished all of Lunar's requests! I feel so... accomplished.
Watanuki had a secret.
Before working at Yuuko’s shop and meeting Doumeki, he used to hate cooking. He only did it to survive and because it was cheaper than eating out, but he used to hate doing it. It reminded him too much of what he lost, the people he lost, and that he didn’t have anyone else to cook for but himself.
It stung, like an old wound that never fully healed.
But then he suddenly had people to cook for. He had Yuuko, who demanded snacks to go with her favorite alcoholic drinks. He had Himawari, who had a special fondness for the sweets he made. He had Kohane, who asked for tamagoyaki. He had Doumeki, who commanded that he cook delicacies out of season. He had Doumeki, who stole pieces of his lunch after finishing his own. He had Doumeki, who thanked him for the food in his own obnoxious and rude -but definitely appreciative- way.
He had Doumeki, and suddenly cooking wasn’t so bad.
Watanuki had a secret.
He used to hate everything about cooking, because it reminded him too much of what he lost. However, lately, he has been able to enjoy it more than he used to. Thanks to a certain archer -who kept insisting he cook until he enjoyed it again- all he thought about now was the people who could enjoy his cooking, rather than those who couldn’t.
Watanuki had a secret.
He put all of his love in the food that he made, trying to tell Doumeki the things he couldn't say. Maybe, one day, he would be able to. However, until then, he would have to make due with what he had. A secret was a secret for a reason, after all.
