Blogging again

After multiple ons and offs of blogging over the years, I've struggled with the concept of writing one's thoughts down for an entire internet-based public to read. Originally many of my posts here were made half-heartedly, at best, and often would end abruptly with a loss of interest on my end. Such a spark to write again hasn't necessarily ( Read more... )

Mike
another middle class white do-gooder colonising our narative???

Imposing terms like disordered on us... calling Intersex people who were incorrectly assigned at bith "Transgendered" . Fluffing and beating her brow for the likes of J.M baily

read further on your new lover.... she is not all that loved by Intersex people. Maybe by the white middle class of the Unitted states.
She has established a career on invading the naratives and lives of the most disadvantaged in society.

Like whites telling blacks who they are and how they should live.

I suppose haven't read enough of her work to truly hail her as a savior of sorts... perhaps I was too quickly blinded by the shininess of the fact she's someone in medicine who doesn't immediately grab the scalpel.

Is she truly that bad? The issue of intersex vs. transgender is a touchy one... is it just to call persons incorrectly assigned at birth transgender? Perhaps not... but then again, being transgender does in fact mean just that. Was not someone who transitions or identifies as some form of genderqueer technically assigned the incorrect gender post-birth as well?

I guess I need to read her look into J.M. Bailey's book and history and learn not to immediately accept someone who on the surface looks like an ally... something I thought I'd learned to do in previous LGBT work... guess it didn't carry over 100% to intersex work.

urgh, writing this response has been depressing... the spell check keeps telling me intersex and transgender aren't words. =(

Btw, thanks for responding to the post! More input is definitely welcome. =
