Faith is hard. As I walk out a relationship with Christ, things like poverty, and relativism, and suffering, and boredom, and mean-spirited people who do awful things in the name of Christ don't disappear. yah, derz been times wen i have wondered y i stay in my relationship wid Him... but i think dat 4 meeh, i have no choice. He's all i have. if i lose Him, i've got nothing. i really do. He's d only Who's kept me sane and alive wen i wanted 2 quit... He's never gonna quit on meeh so i really can't quit on Him. i owe Him dat much, at least.

how is it that you know what i'm thinking and then articulate it better than i could imagine? you have a gift - i'm with J in terms of buying a copy of your future book...i'll be first in line at the signing :)

I spend most of the time believing against a lot of nagging voices in my head. But what I've known is so beautiful, and what I've yet to know and discover calls me on excitedly and it works out rationally for me. Being certain of what we cannot see or really...know is hard, but it...it adds a dimension to my life I'd miss if I didn't have it. It's hard, but it is beautiful. It's tough, but rewarding.

Hi Alison, what you said reminded me a bit of St. John of the Cross, a mystic who had some insight into what he calls the "dark night of the soul". John Coe at Biola wrote a really good article about in the Journal of Psychology and Theology, which I can forward to you (but I forgot your email address ( ... )
