we took a drive around houston's east end today, specifically to take pictures of unusual buildings, unusual signage...anything that struck our fancy, really. taking pictures is kind of my new addiction. gas is expensive, yes, but at least my new hobby keeps me out of loehmann's. we ended up at highway 45, so we headed up north to vinal edge to ( Read more... )

Oddly enough, if the driver has a contract with USPS , yeah it could very well be. They usually get asked to identify the vehicle as a US Postal Service vehicle so if anyone tampers with it they can be tried for knowingly sabotaging the vehicle, which is more than the usual jail time.

On the other hand, if a trucker puts that on there and doesn't have a contract, then (s)he can be tried by the government for displaying the information fraudulently. At least, I think that's how it works.

Doncha just love bureacracies?

If you think that's something, you should see the new uniforms. "U.S. Postal Service" is written on in crayon, and the second "e" in service is backwards. It's actually kind of cute.

This has nothing to do with anything, but I'm digging that icon. It keeps giving me flashbacks to Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy in "Best in Show." In fact, I think they should release an album and use that icon as the cover.

thanks, george! and thanks for the postal service info, too. you'd think, though, that usps could at least provide their truck-driving contractors with a STENCIL or something.

Oh, hey... I only remembered it when I had my dubious flirtation with being a trucker. Usually, they just give you paperwork and consider you blessed to carry the mail.
