Albert's bonds are built on convenience; he has no desire to go out and harness all of the spirits' powers, because he's just not a fighter in that way. Besides, he has a few rune scrolls and a Pale Gate Rune if he really needs magic.
Affinity -- Based on the Suikoden III skill grade system, rated on a level of E to S. E is "no prowess"; D is "terrible"; C is "worse than average"; B is "average"; B+ is "better than average"; A is "excellent"; A+ is "superb"; and S is "genius."
Contact Mastery -- The amount of time spent communicating a Filial spirit.

After Albert received some instruction in the ways of talking to the spirits, he started spending more time outside trying to make contact with these spirits. Kipinn, one of the easiest of the spirits to contact, was the first one he spoke to, and the first one he made significant progress with. Kipinn's forwardness and friendliness made this a fairly easy bond to make, and Albert learned how to harness wind in a little over a week.
As of November 2010 (CY 4): He has developed a stronger bond with Kipinn after showing more interest in the Filial spirits following his first taste of an alternate universe. He feels more comfortable wielding the wind element than he had in the past, likely as a result of the memories he has of bearing the True Wind Rune.
Tsinku ⌠Electricity⌡

Albert's patience really played a part in making the bond with Tsinku, as well as a fair amount of respect on both sides. Both Kipinn and Tsinku were contacted because they were the most ... convenient of the spirits for Albert to contact, even though making the jump from an easy spirit like Kipinn to a difficult one like Tsinku is ... well, difficult. Albert has spent months working on his "relationship" with Tsinku, and so has a very good grasp of higher electrical magic.
Faeren ⌠Earth⌡

Another convenient spirit for Albert to contact since ... earth is everywhere, and he's not exactly ever off of it. Albert didn't make contact with her immediately because Faeren is a timid spirit, and he's not exactly good at coaxing conversation out of people ... or spirits. He has had a lot of time to cultivate a "relationship" with her, and as he takes the time to quietly garden in the warmer months, their relationship grows stronger.

Albert took very little interest in improving his relations with the Filial spirits following Caesar's disappearance and the happenings of The End. With the arrival of Astrid, his "gift" horse from John (the Malnosso), Albert spent more time outside of his house and in the forest. Eferin and Albert's personalities don't really mesh well, so while contact has been made, Albert doesn't have a good relationship with the spirit.

Following the spirit possession incident in May, Albert began re-establishing his relations with the spirits, beginning with Sona. A conversation with Raine at the time ended with Albert deciding to pursue contact with the water spirit, and he spent two weeks contacting the spirit. Their personalities are quite similar, so he has a decidedly-strong relationship with Sona.
