7th Sphere: Blitzball Practice

Apr 10, 2010 02:11

[Jecht needs to blow off some steam and work off his aggression in a healthy way, so he's decided to do some solo blitzball practice.  On Friday, after school lets out, he kicks the boys' swim team out of the high school pool and co-opts it for some of his own leisure time.  He's got various sorts of sports equipment with him, trying out different ( Read more... )

[But how far will you keep that word when you have an egotistical frog to deal with?

Yes, the 'Great' Wart is in the school, out of breath for walking everywhere but happy to have found a place to relax in that isn't the backyard of his second-in-command's home. He heard that the school had a pool, which is why he's here in the first place. Frogs need to keep their skin moist after all.

But first, he's going to catch his breath before doing anything. That doesn't mean he's going to stop himself from ordering a certain someone around. Yes Jecht, we're talking about you.]

Get... out of... my pool... peasant!

[Jecht scowls at the overgrown frog. He came here to relax, not get yelled at by more random freaks, especially ones that looked like the fiends he used to fight in Spira.]

"Hey fatty... CATCH."

[And without warning, he tosses the ball he'd been using for practice directly into the air. Disappearing under the water for a moment, he comes rocketing up out of the pool mere seconds later. Doing a backflip in midair, he bicycle kicks the ball directly at Wart's fat face before diving back into the pool.]

"JECHT SHOT!"

[SPLASH]

[And what a nice shot it was folks. Wart had little time to deflect the Sublimely Magnificent Jecht Shot Mark III and was hit right smack in the kisser.

Yes he is; as you can see in this instant replay, the ball was bounced back and into the water with the large frog falling face first onto the floor. We can see that he needs medical attention which isn't available at this time, but that just goes to show you that you should never boss a pro Blitzball player around.]

[Jecht grins like a mofo, catching the ball on the rebound.]

"Stupid frog. Mayfield has really weak fiends."

[And he goes right back to his practice, leaving Wart to flounder there at the edge of the pool.]

[Seychelles hadn't been swimming since she got to Mayfield, and she really misses it. So today she's brought her swimsuit to school for a little fun. She was planning on waiting until the swim team was finished, but finds them already chased off by the time she arrives. By.....the gym teacher?]

Ummm, excuse me, sir? Do you mind if I use the pool for a while?

[Jecht surfaces, looking up at the young girl. He sighs a bit, and waves her over.]

"Long as you don't get in the way, I don't care what you do, kid."

Thanks!

And she cheerfully jumps in, starts doing laps. Say what you want about her economy, her self-sufficiency, or her lack of military strength, but the girl swims like a fish. Actually, she's used to swimming in the ocean, so the pool is kind of bland, but she's enjoying herself.]

Maybe I should join the swim team.

[Jecht initially just goes back to his own practice, but eventually stops to watch Seychelles. By the time she notices he's watching, he's just floating at one end of the pool, arms leaned up against the wall, looking fairly impressed for a change.]

"Hey, kid, not bad. You should try blitz sometime. Bet you'd be a natural. I was teachin' some other kid, but he didn't show up for practice today. Musta already cracked under pressure."

[It should be noted that today is the first day that Crowe doesn't show up for blitzball practice. There's no warning, he's just not there.]
