happily smut-writing

Jun 02, 2004 17:39

I'm celebrating finishing a big RL project by writing VigBean smut. Oddly, the fic I was intermittently working on for the last while stalled, declared itself null and void and threw itself in the bin, while a shiny new(ish) idea poked its head up and waved at me. I never understand this stuff ( Read more... )

Well, we would both have been wrong. Hamlet stank.
*does the sullen disappointed-in-the-dress-circle face*

Happy Partner came to meet me full of bubbles. I held court on the steps of the Old Vic for a good ten minutes spitting fire about bad verse speaking, odd directorial decisions and bad casting.

Suspect I am Insufferable Pedant.

Five days with the in-laws??? Oh look, your halo's all shiny.
The only reason, I suspect, that I remain genuinely fond of my 'in-laws' is that I've never married their son. This lets me off all kinds of hooks, and I've never joined their enormous hydra-headed clan with its bizarre family customs, bewildering interest in football and total inability to discuss their feelings or health except through the medium of football metaphors.

No, won't throw away first story. You're right, I think it just wants to go after this one. Awkward little bugger.

Now you're in spitting distance, we really must do that social-contact thing. Or spitting. Or something.

How was Hamlet? Reviews mixed.

Am looking forward to the VigBean smut: am intrigued as to whether the previous binned null-and-void project will resurrect itself -- this happens for about 50% of mine, though to be fair i's as much recycling as anything else: am congenitally lazy and would much rather reuse prose I'm happy with, even if it needs kicking to make it fit a different plot.

And yay! for being an Unsupportive Partner. One of the relationship-things I profoundly don't miss.

Come and spit on me any time, baby. Or we could find some kind of between-space for the spitting. Am in London until late August being a mature professional and happily banally domestic with the beloved. In a congenitally unsupportive way, obviously, as IMHO his colleagues have all clearly had lobotomies ( ... )

Well, as one of your fans from the other side of the pond, I must say that I envy you being able to see Hamlet at all. And especially spoken by those who know how to say the words with the proper accent.
OK -so I'm a Shakespeare snob. So sue me.
But sorry that it was such a disaster. I love thinking of Imogene Stubbs as a Sloane Ranger. (snort!)
And YAY! for a new Vig/Bean - you write the best around. American Teeth and your other stories are my favorites. SO, not only do you write a marvelous Viggo and Bean, you also do great hobbits. SO , glad to see that another fic is crawling out of the closet toward you.
Never spurn the sparkle; it makes the dark even darker.

I was about to begin 'Do I know you?' but that sounds
(A) unfriendly
and
(B) like something my version of Sean would say to a passing hobbit.
Neither of which I mean. (I just wondered whether we'd corresponded, as your name isn't currently ringing any bells, though that may be down to my premature senility... Thank you for such niceness, anyway, and I swear I'm pushing out VigBean at the optimum possible rate.

Don't talk to me about Hamlet. I'm still complaining to passersby about it. I was planning to see Othello at the Whitehall tomorrow, but now think I may go and see Troy or something guaranteed silly.

Oh, I am sorry. I should have introduced myself! I am NamasteNancy from SF, Ca and I am a long time lurker and no, we haven't corresponded. I found your stuff wandering through various blogs and was immediately enchanted by your VigBean. American Teeth, the astronaut and cop story, your hobbits, Your Vig and Bean - WOWo! Great great writing. I read your journal as far back as I could find but as there were (until recently) no new entries, I didn't post anything. But I should have at least written you several notes of fanish appreciation about your writing. Please consider this a belated thank you note for all the pleasure your writing has given me and a heart felt wish that life becomes easier for you. BadHamlets or not, as the case may be,

Thank you for this! There will be another, as yet untitled, VigBean fic featuring the hobbits being annoying within the next day or two, as soon as I write a concluding scene.

There will definitely also be more whining about the intermittent awfulness, and permanent untidiness of my life, but ignore all that. I try to.

*rolls eyes at self and thanks you for nice fb*
