Two things about telephone customer service that I've never understood is that the customer doesn't realise you're not the company and you're trying to help, and there is no time span that you can predict or adhere to and confidently fulfil what the customer needs.

Maybe remembering that it's not you they're yelling at can help in some way. The rest is just unfortunate.
