1. if you go in blind you could seriously end up with some crazy person, but i know a lot of people who really like their roomates. i dont know if i would reccomend rooming with someone from home though, it would be harder to meet new people. most of the new friends i have made were through my roomate introducing me to new people. also, if u really hate your roomate they find a way to move you pretty quickly. a lot of people end up rooming with people they meet at orientation because at orientation they room you with people who have been assigned to your dorm already

Thanks sooo much Kailey, and yes, I am definitely going to State!
Your answers really helped me, and I'll let you know if I need to talk to Joanne. I was offered a PA, and I'm planning on doing it as of now, cause I get money for it...and money is always a good thing.
I'll definitely be calling you if I have anymore questions :)
Sometimes rooming with someone you don't know if a good idea. It can help you meet people, and sometimes people you know don't make good roomies. I would not advise living with your best friend...it has the potential to ruin the friendship.
If you're not the partying type do the honors floor. People will be quiter and not blaring music at 2 am.
even though i personally had problems with going in blind (like my roomate seriously wanted to live with her friends from home and she was kinda psycho) the worst problems i have known are with people who roomed with someone they knew. sometimes people change, and/or you will never fully understand how people's habits will annoy you.
honors floor--i don't know. i have no problem studying here and my dorm is supposedly one of the loudest. there are minimum quiet hours no matter where you are. you might meet more of a variety of people on a regular floor or non-honors quiet floor. there is also alcohol-free housing, regular and honors (know there are probably partiers in the honors floors where alchohol is not a restraining factor in the contract.)
Ditto on the roommate stuff. Don't go with someone you know, because you won't go out, you won't meet new people, and it'll be so very tempting to never leave your room. College is about meeting new people. ^__^
