i have seen the light. it took a long time...it's been about a year in the making. but i am done eating meat. which is an almost euphemistic way to say that i'm done eating the dead, rotting flesh of a creature. notice i don't say living, because plants are alive, and since we cannot photosynthesize, we are forced to get our energy and nutrients ( Read more... )

hey, that's great! it definitely takes a shift in perspective to see meat as dead things, not food. i get nauseous when i smell fried chicken or see, god, a whole vat of little wings. i can't help but think, "how many birds?" most people consider these thoughts morbid, but i think they're a very important part in awareness. we are all so blind to so much suffering. only when we learn that it exists can we feel it ourselves and do something to change the world ( ... )

i didn't even see this comment until now! but i have found that soy isn;'t the best thing for me to be eating too much of. i'm trying to eat as few processed foods as possible. right now i'm still on milk and eggs, but i think i will buy organic starting next week, since i can't get over the thought of hormones and chickens crammed into cages. considering i don't eat ridiculously large portions to begin with, and can fill my stomach with high fiber foods, like whole grain seeded breads or raw vegetables, i'm sure i can portion a carton of organic eggs and a carton of organic milk properly.
