Thank you for this post. For the past couple years, I wanted to sponsor a child - but as a full-time student with limited income, I decided to wait until I graduated and got a full-time job. Graduation is creeping up on me and I decided to join this community now in order to get some feedback on foundations that help communities through child sponsorship.

Reading this post made my decision easier and I plan to go with CI. Although my boyfriend and I haven't decided where we want to sponsor, we're definately excited about starting!

Do you send your gifts through UPS? DHL? I'd like to send my child (and hopefully future children) gifts :)

I always ship via parcel post. It takes about six weeks to get there, so I make sure to plan ahead. Sometimes CI can take awhile to deliver the package on their end, but it always gets done. Vani's Christmas package arrived in Chile on 12/28, but wasn't delivered to her until mid-February. I think the field office just gets overwhelmed.
