Compassion

Hey all! My names Nina, I'm 19 from Fla. I recently (around August) sponsored a 9 year old girl from Ghana through Compassion. This might be premature worrying, but I just got a letter back from "her" and I'm kinda worried because.... well in my letter to her I asked her what kind of games she likes to play, her favorite colors and all that jazz. It may be that that was the letter she wrote when you first sponsored her. I'm sponsoring four kids, and every one of them wrote me one "fluff" letter before responding to any other letters I sent them. I think it's just that they are assigned a thank you letter or something right away when they first get a sponsor, and it crosses in the mail with any letter you write at first, because many sponsor orgs seem to go with the cheapest (and slowest) postage (understandably).

I just re-read it and it didn't mention one single thing from my other note so that sounds like a very likely idea, thanks a ton for helpin clear that up, it was really bothering me!!

the same thing happened to me actually! (I started my sponsorship in September with Plan USA.) I've decided: I'm committed to sponsoring for one year. If I don't get some sort of genuine response by next september, I'll cancel sponsoring. until then they get the benefit of the doubt.

the poster above might be right though. it could have crossed in the mail. I'll see if the next one is better...

it's kind of a downer though, huh?

I'll definitely wait for the next one, but I think it was a "thank you for sponsoring me" letter, that's the first thing she said, not "thanks for your quick letter" or anything haha so im assuming mayhemwench is right :)
