Tibet Part Four: Closer to the Top of the World

And so the saga continues....

And that's also how I felt going to Day Five of our 9-day journey. I've been waking up early everyday from nights of light slumber (I blame the late sunsets that threw off my circadian rhythm) and there wwas still a long day to go.

On the way to Tingri, we stopped at the 5000km marker to stretch our legs.

Why are all the children gusgusin? Are they too poor to bathe or is it a cultural thing not to bathe too often?

Sis, there's not much water and then they don't have playgrounds so they play in the dust. You bathe them now, maglakad lang sila after 10 minutes madumi na ulit sila. Sayang the water. Same goes for the clothes. They don't do laundry kasi there's not much water. I'm telling you sis, the conditions are really harsh. Dry land, water supply is far, no shade from trees.
