I say don't do biology if you don't want to, especially when it's really unrelated to TRF. The requirements wouldn't overlap and like you said, you'd probably take almost twice the amount of classes. 20 credits wouldn't be fun. Right now I'm scheduled for 20 credits next semester (only way I can graduate in 4 yrs as a ChemE) and I'm thinking I might just take my second writing seminar at UMass Lowell if they let me. 20 credits is like....just the point where you can't get your homework done because of other homework. And if you're not motivated, it's going to be doubly hard. Most bio majors go to medical school afterward anyway. Like all the bio/biochem majors i know here are premed. Soooo unless you're considering premed, I say bio isn't a lot of help for your career. A second major isn't really a good idea if the only reason you want to do it is to have something to fall back on if you don't have a job in your intended major. :-P
Good luck!

I agree with my evil twin.

Your mom may be angry with you for a bit, but she'll eventually forgive you. She means well and she's probably worried about the financial outcome.

I was reading this study on peoples' majors and their careers. They asked people whether they chose their major because it was financially stable and could make a lot of money. A ton of people chose that. About 20 years later, they took a survey of 100 who became millionaires, and a large percentage (I want to say somewhere in the 90's) were the people who chose the careers because they liked them, and not because they were "safe."

Anthropology has a lot of social science involved, so if you absolutely must double major, I would choose that over biology because it probably overlaps more with TRF.

Just do what you like. If you ask me, you belong in something media-related. You're at one of the best schools in the country for that, too.

i kow exactly what you mean, Becca. But the truth of the matter is that you're the one in college, not your mom. It's awful to really go against wishes like whatever, but...in the end, its your life.
