Anti-big government is not the same as kicking a vulnerable population when they're down just to save money.

But it's perfectly in line with Republican practice, if not rhetoric. They've rarely been anti-big-government when it comes to the Pentagon, corporate tax breaks, etc. Somehow, assistance for the poor seems to farner more attention from their watchful government-cutting eyes. Funny, that.

it is.... it's just that Romney has been presented to me as being an "acceptable moderate Republican" and I didnt really know anyhting about him. To me, he is currently Not Acceptable, and if his views are moderate, I'm very sad.

It's their own fault. If they weren't so crazy, they wouldn't need tax money. Damn crazy people draining the public dole.

oh, and pretty much every social service in the state was slashed via 9C (emergency budget cuts). I'm waiting for them to tell me they've had to cut my job and close the building.

true. clearly, it would be more economical to give them all lobotomies and put them to work in base manual labor.

I'd wager there are great number of homeless people with mental problems as a result of Reagan's cuts back in the 80's. But they don't vote so I guess it's not that big a deal, huh?
