Had you heard anything about the link between metabolic syndrome and diet soda? I don't have any hard data in front of me, but i want to say that there was a study that found a link between the two - the more diet soda you drink, the more likely you are to have metabolic syndrome. (Not that i have a very good handle on what metabolic syndrome is, other than it's considered an indicator of diabetes/risk.)

And i've got an email coming your way in the next hour or so. I might switch computers to write it - this one's driving me crayzee.

metabolic syndrome is a collection of symptoms/features that increase your risk of cardiovascular disease, more or less. Essentially, it's High LDL cholesterol/triglycerides and low HDL cholesterol, high blood pressure, insulin-resistance/high blood sugar, and central obesity.

Here's the news article on diet soda and metabolic syndrome. I don't know if there's anything more recent, and I haven't read the study, but I do remember when the story broke......
