Day 03 → Your favourite television program

My current favourite TV show would probably have to be Glee. Having been raised on a steady diet of TV shows and movies about American kids in high school chasing their dreams, I love anything that subverts or plays with teen movie archetypes. Show me a bitchy cheerleader with a heart, a nerd with a secret ( Read more... )

Ah, Glee. I wish I liked it more, but I just don't. I like the premise, and I love Quinn, but the show is not must see tv for me. The characters are so uneven, I wish they had more of a story arc, not just theme episodes. Maybe season 2 will be more cohesive. I mean, they can do anything, they have seasons 2 and 3 already greenlit. I hope they get better.

For me, Legend of the Seeker is it right now. God, I love Cara so damn much. The show itself has problems, but my love for Cara makes it all ok. Badass, kickass woman walking around in red leather, killing people and kissing hot girls. Could not ask for more in my tv heroines!

I agree, sometimes Glee is hard to love. It exasperates me, but I keep watching. I really hope it's going to shape up in Season 2.

I've heard a lot of people enthusing about Legend of the Seeker and the hotness of its ladies - is it on DVD? It sounds like the sort of thing I should investigate...

The first season of LoTS is available and the second will be released in September, at least in the US. I watched a few episodes of the first season but it didn't really grab me, but the second season added the new character of Cara, badass, girl-kissing, pinnacle of awesome woman that she is. She was tortured as a child to mold her into a pain-loving weapon of death, and the second season delves into her getting in touch with her feeeelings. Sigh. So stoic, so hot, so tough.

Your whole second paragraph? Yes to that. All of it.

(And I second the recommendation for LotS. It is most excellent viewing.)

I'm matching my icon to your journal, btw.

Good to know I'm not a crazy spoilsport without a heart just because those things pissed me off. They also really need to stop taking requests from the fans, because it'll just piss off the fans they refuse to take requests from. Yeah, I'm a bitter Brittana fan. I don't want them to be the new lesbian TV power couple or anything, it just annoyed me when Murphy was all, "Lesbians! How trashy! I would never pander to people's lower instincts that way!" I just thought, You seriously don't think that people don't masturbate thinking about the het couples, or Kurt with anyone? And also, dude, you're a writer. There are ways to make it not trashy. Do your job - use your imagination! *sighs* Sorry about that, it just really gets my goat.

A purple Glee icon, how thoughtful! *grins* Did you ever watch Boston Public back in the day? That was my crack back when I was thirteen. It was pretty glorious. Jessalyn was on it, playing the woman everybody ( ... )

I've actually kind of stopped talking about Glee because I feel like I'm raining on people's parade. The back nine really, really disappointed me.

You're totally allowed to be a bitter Brittana fan. They got a raw deal. (I'm a bitter Terri fan. She got an even rawer deal.)

I wish RM et al would just write the damn show without constantly giving away spoilers or commenting on upcoming plots/characters/guest stars. I remember the days when shows used to be surprising. Now it's actually hard work to avoid spoilers. I'm totally getting Glee-ed out, and we've only had one season. This should not be happening.

I did not watch Boston Public, however, I am currently waiting on not strictly legal copies of all of the episodes to make their way across the Atlantic to me. Yes, I'm a bit of a Jessalyn fangirl atm :)
