So in Star Wars they can put ships in space, create sabres composed of light matter, do freaky s't, and have a talking muppet - but they can't keep a pregnant woman alive?

Right...?

Thats because mankind still hasn't achieved immortallity. And that is good.
Maybe they should eat more salad?

Honey - she 'lost the will' to live, and they couldn't keep her alive? I'm not talking immortality, but in a futuristic world you'd expect more to be done to try and keep her alive.

If she 'lost the will' to live it is just like giving up your soul. You can't stay alive without your soul. Even if your heart beats and blood is running through your veins you would only make a better Zombie.
And aint is still the privilege of free will? To decide for oneself when to have the strenght to live or when to die?
Anyway, its fiction.

I really like Battlestar Galactica but can't get round the fact that they still print data on paper. In Star Trek they at least have these nifty notepads.

But you can't go from 'lost the will to live' to death in 30 seconds like in Star Wars: ROTS.

I think the problem is that they did away with psychology and chocolate. If they had had chocolate, you can bet she would have lived.
