I'm working with Students for Arizona PIRG on their campus climate challenge that they have going on. What I need from you, is the consideration of signing a petition that reads as follows:
Dear Representative Mitchell, Senator McCain, and Senator Kyl,
Our ability to prevent global warming from escalating into a major disaster depends in large part by the decisions of the U.S. Congress and the White House to implement a national plan to reduce our global warming pollution down to zero by as much as 20% by 2020 and 80% by 2050 in the coming years. This will be a major challenge, but we know we can do it.
As part of the generation that will be most affected by global warming, we have already begun to address the problem on campus, by working to reduce our school's global warming pollution, by educating our fellow students about solutions to the problem, and by reducing our own personal global warming impact.
We now want to learn about what you are doing. Therefore, the student body of the Arizona State University (ASU) urgently invites you to an exclusive showing of the film, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH. We hope that you will join us for the showing, address the crowd with your plans to combat global warming in 2007 and take questions from the audience.
Let me know if you are interested, so that i can try to get the paper to your house to sign. (yeah. sounds like a catch-22 using my car, huh?)
