Actually, the weather listened to me, bizarrely enough. The last of the rain and crazy wind basically stopped while I was getting my things together to leave. Which was just as well, since the custom around here is to bring food for the professors on your orals board (a bribe? to keep the ones who've been in other people's orals since 8 from falling asleep? something for the ones who only skimmed your thesis to fidget with? who knows!), and I really didn't think I could manage that stuff and my bag and an open umbrella, in strong wind. But you're right, I probably would have been awarded Badass Points had I succeeded.
(If you threw my brick of a thesis down the stairs, I bet it would go all the way to the bottom, which I'm thinking would be bad? Maybe? Unless you were rewarding distance rather than elevation...)

It's sort of like the academic form of trial by combat.
Beats grading papers by throwing them down the stairs, anyhow.
