Maybe I'm too interested in what services Google has to offer but does anyone have an Orkut account? What is it? Is it exciting?

My problem with Orkut is that I really don't want any more friends. Especially ones suggested by a lightly disguised dating service. I don't have enough nights in the week to get drunk often enough with the ones I have already.

Do you not think it's for relatively lonely people in New York?

I have no idea what it is. But you are right about the importance of maintaining social contact with existing friends rather than amassing new ones (which you'll probably never meet).
