Hm. I don't think conforming has much to do with caring. Reaching goals could be conforming as much as not reaching them. As for caring or not, yes there is no happy medium, yet caring is sufficiently broad. Perhaps there is another, intermediate action which sits between caring and not, as there is between possible and impossible (likelihood of an event happening). *shrugs* Just thought I'd put in my two cents even though I have not a clue what you're talking about.
