what an awful night...

poor baby! i hope she heals quickly!!! i'm so glad nothing like that has ever happened to me, i don't know what i'd do! i think you handled yourself very well even though it took a little while for you to figure out what's wrong :-)

There is nothing to feel guilty about at all. You did exactly the right thing once you realized that something was wrong. You took immediate action, even late at night. That is a true sign of a dedicated parent!
I hope that your baby gets better fast!

poor little chimi-chinny!

i work at a 24-hour vet hospital and we see a few chinnie leg amputations a year, usually concomitant to an injury just like chimi's. hopefully she'll heal up and be good as new! if for whatever reason you do opt to amputate, i can tell you that chins do really really well as tripods :) and dont feel guilty about the aforementioned pee-post. we all get frustrated with our fuzzbutts from time to time. you obviously did all you possibly could for your little one and shes lucky to have you as a mom!

yeah I think she looks so pathetic that it makes her cuter.... kinda sad ain't it? lol

It is nice to know that I'm not the only one it's happened to. I've had chins for 8 years now... and this only the second time ever any of them have had to go to the vet, it's a shame that it has to be this serious. :(

I was kinda hoping you guys would get a "kick" (oow...groan) out of the pics. When the doc first brought her out to me I kind of snickered to myself and she said "yeah, I had to take pictures, too."

My hammy had a cast a few years back. It was a horrifying experience since another hammy got ahold of him... *sigh* but he was ok, and he even ran in his wheel with this damn thing!
