there's a fine, fine line between instinct and paranoia

I've always sensed that this was true; unfortunately I always seem to find myself so solidly on the paranoia side that I've never actually seen said line.

Maybe paranoia is instinctual? In the wild it seems like it might be a pretty decent heuristic.

That said, we often don't follow our instincts: that's why we're human.
