Advice? Moving into new house.

Hello. I have had my chinchillas for oh.. 3-4 years now? And I've moved around with them quite a bit. Well I'm moving again, into a big house that 5 people already live in. When living with other people I usually have a witty "chinchilla FAQ" by their cage. But what I'm worried about most is that a couple who lives there has dogs. Short stubby pit ( Read more... )

This or perhaps get a one of those door-bar things? Like the ones used to keep toddlers from going down the stairs/out of a room.

But yeah, inside is much better for chinnies tbh.

With chins, cool/cold is better than hot. As long as you can control the temperature in their area to keep it between 60 and 75, they'll be fine. As far as the dogs go, if you don't think they can be trained to leave the cage alone (and ime pibble types are very responsive to proper training b/c they want to please the people ALL THE TIME) then a table for the cage is fine-- assuming it's a table sturdy enough for a pibble to charge into full-tilt and not knock the cage off. Barring that, there are rolling stands available from Quality Cage company in Seattle as well as (probably) either ferret.com (home of the ferret nation cage which is AWESOME) or martinscages.com.
