I had two major realizations today: 1) one big reason I like weight lifting is that it actually ameliorates my body image issues rather than exacerbating them, and that's pretty depressing, if you think about it, and 2) somewhere along the line I transmuted 'never thin enough' in my head into 'never fit enough', which is the reason I sometimes push ( Read more... )

Not sure if you want any comments at all, but I can relate. It seems really hard to achieve a non-fucked-up mindset around exercise and health once it has been fucked up for a while, and there's so much fucked-up-ness about exercise, fitness & health (for all body types) in this culture.

I try to do some work around body image, but it feels like 2 steps forward, 3 steps back a lot of times.
