I had the most amazing time earlier this week at the V&A. Awesome time at Hampton Court Palace yesterday. A truly bittersweet but wonderful visit with myladyswardrobe, edmndclotworthy and their baby, Bilbo. You had a Jag older than my kid brother? Wow! Interesting choice for an runnabout in W.Cornwall.

Sorry it's bitten the dust.

Hope you other half's out of hospital soon enough for you to have his gusts for garters.

What state was the car in before the prang, and what model was it? Some were AFAIK fairly infamous for rusting in coastal areas.

Well, firstly, he was most definitely not in the hospital. He walked away quite easily from the accident. He rear ended a vehicle in a turn. Period. Other vehicle was bigger and tougher and had no damage. My 1984 Xj6, on the other hand, will most likely require a new bonnet hood, new front grille and new front bumper. There is also some damage where the bumper impacted the body, just beneath the lights. The car was not kept here in Cornwall for the past 25 years, being originally purchased in Chelmsford and then kept in and around London and surrounding environs since then, up until just over a year ago. I bought the car in December with the intention of taking it home to America with me in two months. Now I am not so sure if she will be making the trip. We are assessing the damage and checking with the garage. My last car, well, the car before I bought the Volvo which was purely for practical reasons in the first place, was my 1962 Mercedes. A satnav system that goes in your car. The stupid cord broke, not our fault it was broken when we picked it up, but we did not realize it. The recreation department on the naval base owns a lot of them, and they let the sailors use them for trips around the country here.
