Kai hated how nervous he got around Reita, how his composure was always lost, his dignity forgotten. His sure, steady hands turned to butterfingers and his mouth ran dry and parched, successfully disabling him from saying anything intelligible. Whether or not Reita noticed any of this had yet to be proven but Kai reasoned that even if Reita did, he didn’t particularly want to know. He would rather save face than go down with embarrassment.
Kai spent hours a night watching videos, and in doing so, had one conclusion - he needed a pick-up line and if not a pick-up line, then something just as suave. Not just any set of words, no, but special ones. Not something too cheesy but not something too flirtatious, either. Something...classy. If there was one when it came such a topic, anyway. It took just as many hours researching up on the internet but finally - finally - Kai found one he was content with. Flicking off his computer monitor, Kai leaned back in his seat for a moment, content.
Moments later, he reached over and grabbed his house phone, pressing the worn out numbers that would connect him to Reita’s line. He would do this even if it killed him, and he would do it right.
“Reita, let me have a sip of your Coke? My Sprite is flat.” Annoyed that he’d been given flat soda, Kai reached over the table to pull Reita’s drink closer to him, not waiting for a response as he took a quick sip before pushing it back. He’d chosen this place not for it’s location (which was nice, despite) but for the fact that it was busy and bustling, resembling a bar on the classy side, perfect for making a lasting memory if done right.
“It’s been a while since just you and I have gone out together,” Reita said without need, though Kai didn’t correct him. In actuality, it had been approximately eighteen days since him and Reita had gone out just the two of them. Reita didn’t need to know that Kai kept count, not only because it seemed a bit too stalker-like, but also because Kai was convinced it would indicate his infatuation towards Reita.
“It has...” Kai agreed wholly, before a smile lit his face. “Hey, Reita, I bet I can kiss you without using my lips.”
Reita scoffed - kisses were made by the lips and by nothing else. He leaned forward daringly, lips curving in a smile. “Alright. Prove it. If you win...”
“You take me out for dinner,” Kai said, voice leaving no room for any other option, startling Reita. A bet was a bet, however, and Reita didn’t want to come off scared. “And if you win...”
“If I win, you take me out to dinner,” Reita compromised, sure he would win this without a doubt, though the stakes weren’t high to begin with. It was when Kai leaned over and kissed him square on the lips that he was caught off guard, his expression showing the shock and surprise, though there was a hidden undertone of pleasure to it that Kai couldn’t miss.
“Guess I lost,” Kai laughed, catching Reita off guard once more, yet the deal was sealed as Reita surprised both of them by leaning over to claim Kai’s lips once more.
