wow, i really like that picture. when i first saw this entry, i pretty much thought it was just some pic you grabbed off a some photo website or blog. (yes, that is a compliment, in case you weren't sure). so congrats to you!

with expectations, i find i never get what i expect. so that means, ironically enough, if i expect to fail, i won't. a double negative does lead to positives sometime.

i geekily laughed at "giant triple-enforced adamantium wall of NO, I CAN'T HELP YOU"

i hate to say it, but you're right about us chinese. we're very selfish. but on the flip side, it's a sign of weakness to accept help, so even if they were offered it, they wouldn't take it. i know firsthand how proud my parents were. sometimes i wonder if "help" was even originally in the chinese vocabulary and not imported from elsewhere.

Ah thanks for the compliment on the photo! :)

Glad you appreciated my geeky adamantium reference, and I agree with you about the unwillingness to accept help. This has been something I've struggled to overcome all my life, just getting up the nerves to ask for help when I need it. Most of the time if there's something I need to do and I can't do it on my own, I end up putting it off or not doing it at all. Not a great approach for many things in life.
