I HAVE A REAL FREAKING JOB!!!

I got the Aldie Mill job!
So starting next week, I will be the site supervisor for the Aldie Mill Historic Park in Aldie, VA (just west of Chantilly)
Woot!

(And I'm looking at apartments in the Dunn Loring/Vienna area, because doing an hour commute each way long term would probably kill me and/or my car)

apartments, employment, life?

Yay!!! Congrats-and after hearing your report on the Mill after your visit the other day I think that it is going to be a great fit for you. And I totally agree about moving out there to be closer--long commutes SUCK! Now I really have to get down there so we can CELEBRATE!!! Let me know when you've got some free time! I'm in Kansas from June 14-20 but am free most weekends! ~A

Hehe!
Well, my schedule is really up in the air at this point...but once I'm settled in at Aldie, I'll prob. be working most weekends (since that's the only time the mill is actually open to the public!), but i think it's only like noon to 5pm that it's open, so weekends are still definitely an option!

Cool...we can figure out specifics once you get all settled. When will you start?

Ha!
It's 30 hours a week, so no benefits, but the hourly pay is good enough that it's still doable (I may be making enough to even be able to pay for my own health insurance!)...let's just say that it's more than twice the hourly wage I was making at Mt. V.
And what am I going to be doing? HA! Pretty much anything and everything. Things are pretty much starting from scratch, so I'll be coming up with a mission statement and developing a collections management policy, putting together exhibits and public programming and school programs, and overseeing day to day operations of the site...and trying to figure out what to do about the water wheel that is about to rust through! Eeep!
