It's still kinda tense in this house after elections. Election day was the day before yesterday and all the wrong people are now in office. At least, where I was watching. And it sickens me, because those last couple of weeks were so intense because of all the public slander and downright lies being thrown at us and my dad. They won and they did it by lying their asses off here. Good show, good show.
My dad wrote a public letter about the false statements several days before the election. I mean, I've never seen such angry writing on his website. It's
here if you care to read it.
I'm not all too surprised that the democrats now have taken a hold of the federal house and senate, what with the current president's approval rating at an all-time low. In fact, I'm okay with it. The setup of one party controlling congress and the other in the executive seat mean that it will be harder for bills to pass. This is a good thing. I was raised libertarian.
Kinda not been a good week. Started out fabulous, great Monday that's for sure. But it has deteriorated into stress and not seeing people. The pain in my lower back still keeps me up at night, and most of the time it hurts to walk. It makes me clumsy, that's for sure. I kept dropping things during Mad Science.
Yesterday was my last day teaching science at my Wednesday class, at the King's School. It was such a great school to teach in. They took total responsibility for the children and gave them about 45 minutes between the end of school and the beginning of Mad Science to eat snacks and spend their energy on the playground. This meant I could come in super early to set up (I usually only got about 10 minutes or less) in the spanish classroom run by Senora Shorack. Mrs. Shorack and her three sons Landon, Kyle, and Titus kept me company before and after the class. They gave me a $5 gift certificate to Starbucks yesterday. How sweet!
Unfortunately... stress before and after that. Meh. It was the only day I forgot my notes, so I had to wing it. Luckily the class was on Detective Science, and I had taught Secret Agent Lab in summer camps all last summer. Lots of the same things going on there. Scientific Method FTW!
I haven't been able to sign onto WoW all week.
I keep meaning to start making icons for lj, too. Haven't started that yet.
Still trying to fiddle with lj coding. It's not going as well as I'de hoped. I'm starting to think that they will not allow absolute positioned image overrides. This would be sad times for me.
Gah - I hope I get to see friends sometime soon. Perhaps I will have to have a movie night this Friday. I kinda want to watch Tank Girl again.
It's freaking pouring down rain.
