I love "sick" days. Its a random Wednesday, quarter of two in the afternoon, and I'm still sitting in my pjs. Awesome. Except the whole work part. Thats kind of a downer. I'm home so that I can do college essays. And yes, I've made progress, but my essays still suck. I should never become an Enlgish major... So far, my two "better" essays have been ( Read more... )

um, i actually agree with matthew j. on this one, so you'll have to explain your argument more sometime, b/c i might not be getting it or something. like, how exactly will the presence of varisty help? i know it will fuck us over, but will it help? will they get more motivated? if they need to improve, they can also take the extra step themselves by going to the club or something. maybe some of them do, but i think it's obvious that some of them don't. plus, varsity seems to be doing ok with less practicing. yeah, we have practice on thursdays and they dont, but that's only two hours more. these one hour practices are a lot more concentrated than they used to be. so, i think the excuses of less practice time and non-segregated practices are just that: excuses. we should keep in mind what you guys were saying before the games (which is what you guys said before the game with them on saturday, too): north haven is a hard team, so maybe our JV team just isn't up to par with them yet, but we should watch them in another game before ( ... )

um, i honestly didn't mean to jump all over anyone, but i could've sounded like i did in writing, i dunno. and i wasnt saying that you were hysterical at all, b/c i have yet to hear of you being hysterical, unless i missed it.

if i did jump all over you, however, you would know. trust me.

but yeah, i think my post came off sounding a bit more harsh than i intended.

I have to agree with Emily on this, Morgan. You get better by fencing people better than you. This is why we're better than Old Lyme and other Eastern teams. It's not the coaching or the money, though that certainly plays a part. It's because at their practices, the level of fencing is much lower than the level at ours. This causes their level to be still low, and so on, so that the teams have difficulty improving. By splitting up practices, we're training fencers that aren't up to par.
Probably 90% of my moves I learned from Matt, Alex, and Paul Jagelski. With split practices, I would hardly have fenced any of them or even watched them fence.
In short, it's bad.
