I've decided I'm overdue for a random act of kindness so I went to anysoldier.com. The site lets soldiers (primarily in the middle east) post "ads" for care packages or pen-pals for themselves or soldiers in their group who don't get much (if any) stuff at mail call. You get their military address and send the stuff directly to them.

THAT IS SO WONDERFUL! Oh I am so happy to here about people doing that. I just want to cry or something. My dad is retired from the army and I can remember when I was little and he was away during the gulf war. Bless you!

thats awesome
what ive heard from friends who have come back is that.. well they told me they had scorpion fights where they put two scorpions in a box, shake it and have a death match. they evidently had no idea that scorpions are one of the few arachnids that can jump, and looked a little freaked when i told them. evidently they had kept these guys in matchboxes in their pocket.

when my cousin went back i sent him with a bunch of those wee tiny remote control cars, because racing is a time honored desert tradition, and they desperately needed something non venomous to wager on.
im told the mechanics are racing bandsaws.
so think of all the retarded things 22 year old guys do, and find a safe and portable replacement.
your anysoldier will thank you for it :)

chip, you are awesome. that is such a thoughtful, caring thing to do, and it's definately encouraging to know that someone is willing to take the initiative, time, and heart to do that.
