Yowza!

When did Shadow Hearts and Koudelka get so expensive? I love both of the games to no end, but I also got Koudelka for 10 bucks off half.com. When did the series get so popular? And when did SH get so expensive? And I remember last summer there was a glut of sealed copies of Covenant on Ebay for like 13 bucks a pop, and even now that game is getting ( Read more... )

I fucking hate when I get the urge to buy games again because I totally overpay.

Fucking ebay.

I am happy to see how cheap Suikoden 4 is. Probably cause 3 was such CRAP! AHAHAHA. I laugh in your dumb face!

I say mean things because I can't find a good deal for Koudelka!

If that's you bidding on Suiko IV, I'm positive you won't like it. It has poor pacing, the plot sometimes makes no sense whatsoever, the random encounter rate is ungodly, and the characters are bland. :( I honestly would have stopped playing it if it wasn't a Suikoden game, and you know I loved the first three to no end.

I think what happens is there are many obsessive-compulsive gamers who feel the need to play things in order. So when Covenant comes out, more people want...Shadow Hearts 1. And when New World comes out, more people want...Shadow Hearts 1. And then why they're done with that, they want Covenant.

But yeah, I've been looking for a copy of Shadow Hearts on ebay and have essentially given up. Bleh.

You know, if you yell at me long enough, I will let you borrow all the games (and Suikoden). I'm just lazy and hate walking to the student center where the post office is. Hee! I dunno if the Shadow Hearts series would be your thing. Koudelka's battle system is very clunky, but the plot and the voice acting are awesome. I really do think it has the best voice acting for a console game. Shadow Hearts is pretty damn good, but I think some people could get tired of the new battle system, which depends entirely on timing. The love between the two characters is pretty contrived when it happens, but they somehow grow on you. Covenant I think was IGN's RPG of the year in 2004. The games also get progessively less darker; in Koudelka you run around and see nothing but dead bodies and stuff, I has this freaky doll house and the first place you end up in the game is a cannibalistic village (yay!). Covenant and From the New World are a lot more light-hearted, but the characters are much more bizzare. I mean, one of your characters is a wanna-be ( ... )

Oh yeah, the flamboyantly gay wanna-be superhero vampire is also beaten up by Princess Anastasia Romanov on a regular basis. She only comes up to like his chest or something, but it's incredibly amusing to watch.

Yeah, I'm not expecting revolutionary gameplay or anything, it just sound like the story/characters are pretty unique. And yes, I also realize that (at least among game critics) it is pretty much universally agreed that Covenant is better than Shadow Hearts 1. Again, it's sort of a question of where to start - obviously I'll miss SOME stuff I don't play Shadow Hearts 1 first - but it sounds like, at the same time, Covenant is relatively stand-alone and is totally playable without having played the first one. So the question is- is Shadow Hearts good enough that I'll be able to get through it to play Covenant ( ... )

It always happens like this, when a new game comes out for a series that wasn't well known. ToS did the same thing to ToD and ToE. It sucks. :P

Luckily, I got my SH1 copy around the time of SH:C's release. Brand New, factory sealed, from ebay at a mere $16.99. (Of course, there are even luckier people who got it FREE when they preordered SH:C! :O )

See, I would have thought Covenant would have caused a shortage supply, but I guess when they packaged the first game as a pre-order bonus, it kept everything reasonable. And Koudelka had been cheap for who knows how long; I'm just kind of amused to see how expensive it is now.
