http://gealach-ros.livejournal.com/57164.html << Bradley's TV Guide interview where he talks about how the BBC screwed up Robin hood, how Merlin was inspired by SV, and has the best quote IMO on Smallville as it is now. He's spot on it, which is cute too ( Read more... )

That interview couldn't be more spot on. His quotes about both Robin Hood and SV are great to see. It's very nice to see actors calling out shows that mess up and why they mess up. I'm sure the SV PTB won't pay attention to it but at least it's out there for others to see.

The #1 thing I'm excited for Merlin on NBC, watching it in HD. I see the show going to one extreme, either it'll do really well or really bad. I don't see it being in the middle.

As for when S2 starts, looks like they haven't set a date yet.

BBC's Robin Hood was a fun cheesy show - then they killed Marion whom IMO was pretty much the secondary lead. SV did the same thing loosing Lex, they lost their secondary lead. It's not the same show without them.

I'm so excited for HD MERLIN.

I want s2 NOW. I bet it won't be until September though (on the positive side then I've got something to fill in the gaps until Chuck returns.)

"We had a similar situation over here with Robin Hood where for some reason they killed off Maid Marian. It seems a bit daft to me when you know where the story's going and all of the sudden you change it a little bit so it can't get there.

I agree with the MR quote 100%. My only problem is with what I've quoted above. In a sense, he's saying that killing off Maid Marian who is part of Robin Hood canon was a mistake just like killing off Lex Luthor was a mistake. But in another sense it's negative for Chlois.

True, that's then the idea that Marion is gone, so it's all over, like the show crumbles sans Nois.

Part of the issue there too is that Lucy Griffiths was quite possibly BBC's Robin Hood's strongest actor (in the top three at least) and kept the two halfs of the story connected. No Marion, and suddenly the show is lopsided.

Which is what I took the Lex quote to mean; SV was about Clex's dynamic, Robin Hood was about Robin and Marion on that version, and Merlin is about Merlin and Arthur.

Loosing half of the couple that made it that show... it's a killer.

Dude, call 'em out! LOVE IT.

"How on earth are they doing [Smallville] without Lex Luthor?" James says.

VERY BADLY, Bradley. Very badly.
