Lastnight, I dreamed about the waterslides we used to go to when we were kids - Manteca Waterslides/Oakwood Lake. In my dream, they'd been closed down, due to rising insurance costs, and replaced with a housing development. I was ... really unhappy, as that was an awesome place to go. that IS sad. i have fond memories of that place as well.

I've looked at maps of raging waters, which is probably the closest of the major parks, and they look/feel so much more commercial. Sure, there was vending at Manteca, but overall it felt a lot more like it was just a park.

May be memories clouded by time, admittedly.

...i don't know when you were last there, but i went for a birthday in '97. it was lovely and foresty. reminded me of a campsite, like something you'd find near lake tahoe.
