More Idiotic Hermes Concepts

Like I mentioned earlier, Dominic came by to visit he left me with Persona 3, which has slowly grown on me despite hating most of the characters, the gods awful music and having to fight in the same fucking dungeon over and over again (apparently he never thought I'd love this one and Persona 4 is much better but I should play this one first "in ( Read more... )

I can't pretend to understand such strong feelings over a character in a game, particularly when no blind game I've ever played has such vivid characters, but I will say that I'd like to kick whomever named this character Hermes straight in the balls. It's very offensive to say the least. Find another name for your stupid obnoxious character and leave The Gods out of it. I'd love to see someone try that with a mainstream religion. Maybe, when I learn QuickBasic, I'll do a bit (not much) of research and make a game demoralising and offending the characters in the monotheistic faiths.

The character isn't named Hermes, the power that he uses is. I usually curb my annoyance at how the gods are portrayed in popular culture (because hey, its going to happen when, as far as most other people are concerned, these myths are only entertaining stories, not representative of real deities that need to be respected; as long as its only entertainment, not propaganda), but this just seems to be something I can't get away from lately. I mean I wonder where the bad ideas in the community come from, then I see shit like this ( ... )

most anime annoys the shit out of me*

I saw and liked Cowboy Beebop, and I did like Hellsing up to the point where it stopped - not ended, stopped (it was explained to me they took a small fragment of a long manga series to film, but still keeping certain story lines central to the plot when you never intended to film their conclusion or even get within shouting distance of a conclusion, that's bullshit). I would have liked Evangelion plot wise, up until the addition of that horrible little red head, who is beyond a doubt the most annoying character I have ever seen in anything ever (if it gets worse than her, I don't want to know it, I don't think my sanity can take it). Beyond something like Perfect Blue (which I should see in a day or two), I have no interest in anime. It ( ... )
