Livejournal thinks you should keep the blog up and keep writing to it. Livejournal also thinks you shouldn't worry overmuch about updating it all the time, though Livejournal thinks using it as a place to reflect, if nothing else, every month or eight weeks or so, to reflect out loud of your spiritual path, that would be a good thing. (eight weeks tends to be my update-now-omg time, when I typically feel I have enough to say) Er, and by "I" I mean Livejournal. ;o)
Good idea. I do try not to worry about how much time goes by (I don't understand how some people can seemingly churn out an essay a day), but I also put too much pressure on myself sometimes to produce something. One of my many flaws. :-)
But yes, giving it a more personal, reflective type focus, is probably a very good idea.
Since LiveJournal already answered, here's my opinion: keep it, and use it whenever the hell you want to reflect on Hermes, Loki, Odin or even the Flying Spaghetti Monster if you feel called to worship Him. We HAVE 101 sites and books--it's the blogs and journals that talk about the mundane, day-to-day workings, or the deeper relationships that we are in need of.
That is what I was thinking. Kullervo's complaint on the forum is kind of hanging around in my head. I know that I myself was able to find all the right places to look (as I have something of a habit of doing, and as a Hermes person of course I would ;-)) so I had that picture of how things ought to look in practice in a person's life, he's not wrong in that it isn't as immediately available as the two tons of 101 sites (many of which say the same stuff in slightly different language). Its too bad that people don't seem to feel very comfortable talking about what they do (even if what they do doesn't involve any sort of personalized mysticism), and it is something that should change.
Thanks for the support. And all hail the Flying Spaghetti Monster!!! :-P
I think you should definitely keep the blog, update it as often as you feel called to and not worry about how often (or not often) that is, and write about your own experiences - your path with Hermes, any of the other gods you deal with, what you do, what you think, etc. A peek into your world, basically. I would love to read that.
Thanks, that was sort of what I was thinking, mostly stemming from a comment someone made over on the forum a while back that I've kept thinking over. I am glad to know that's something people would be interested in seeing.
I'll sit with it a while longer and see how it feels.
I do have a Weebly site that I was reminded of about a week ago now when I got an email from them about all their new features. I never published it, I was keeping it as an option for when I got a lot more writing together.
Of course, there is also the possibility of publishing the site with what little I have and moving my blog over there then continuing to work on it. Hmm...
Out of curiosity, I know that before you stopped blogging, you did move it over to Weebly from Wordpress, what did you find worked better over there compared to what you had before? Shoot me an email if you have the time. :-)
I have seriously thought about that a few times now, but I find that's not really what I want to do. I feel like I have something to say, its just a matter of figuring out what it is
( ... )
Your 101 essays have always been some of the best, in my own opinion. Particularly because you do have a way with words, but also that it is a more novel approach; you're very good at pointing out the small things that people can incorporate into their lives however busy they might be, as opposed to recommending the usual full formal ritual every fucking day (something not all of us, like myself for example, are capable of doing however much we may want to), the usual sort of offerings and that's pretty much it.
But enough ass kissing ....
I had had the idea of turning it into a slightly more personal thing (this based off a comment made on the forum that I've kept thinking about ever since), and I am glad to hear enough people saying that is something they would want to see, and that they see a need for it. I'm still thinking it over, but it is encouraging.
