Who wants to do an outing?

So I've landed here in Whiting. Like the area so far, but the kid (4 1/2 y.o.) is seriously missing peer interaction. With me out of school and not working, daycare just doesn't make sense financially.  I was thinking of taking him to the free day at the Planetarium and Aquarium on Tuesday. Anyone want to join us for exploration and lunch? We need ( Read more... )

We'd LOVE to meet up! This winter is doing a number on us, cabin fever wise. We have a lot going on right now so unfortunately this Tuesday won't work. But I'm going to friend you, if that's okay and we can plan something soon? How far is Whiting from the city? I'm guessing it's South because I'm not familiar with it :)

Whiting is in Indiana, off the skyway...about 15-20 minutes from me. Pretty easy to get to / from the city from there, if you don't mind the skyway toll :)

Likewise, we are all for a meetup too, but Tuesday is not so good for me either :(. I still work full time for now (going part time with some schedule flexibility soon though).

Let me think on play facilities and get back to you if I come up with any good thoughts!

Also, as I just told Sarah, we're not too far from you either...I even lived in Whiting, once upon a time. :) The beach and park area there is very nice, by the way, though the weather is not so good for that right now, heh. They have lots of nice festivals in Whiting too (pierogi fest! yay!). So we could maybe do a playdate around here or something in the near future :)

I'll friend you too if that's cool! let me know :)

At this point I'll even take a McDonald's playground!

There are easy ways around the toll! I have discovered them and am happy to share!

You're in Lansing right? I think I remember that from my earlier "OMG Moving Help!" posts. We should definitely have a meetup; that's not far at all. My schedule is super open as I'm playing SAHM at the moment, so whatever is good for you gals is good for us. Can't get online courses up and running til the summer and won't be enrolled full-time until I can find good newborn care and get enrolled at Perdue-Camulet (hopefully in the fall).

Friend away!

Man, I've got the fever already and I've only been here 2 weeks! There's also a free day at the field museum on the second Monday of every month. Maybe that would work? If not we can figure something else out. Friend away, and I'll friend back. Momma friends are hard to come by and lord knows each of us can use every one we can find.

I'm not as mobile as the others, but there is a play area in Woodfield Mall now, by Macy's. Woodfield is in Schaumburg, NW sub of Chicago :). Devin's only 16 months, but she LOVES the play area :).

Do you know if most of the malls have play areas or if it's only a certain few? I was thinking of hitting the mall in Oaklawn for some maternity gear today.

Sadly I have no idea, but I bet you could call, like, a customer service desk or something and ask.

I realize this is prolly totally useless now... but maybe next time ;). The Woodfield one is brand new, as of, like, this year I think.
