Rory shot his so-called sister a look. His honey-blond hair fell over his now-darkened eyes. His saliva began to well up in his throat, threatening to foam in his mouth. He was thirsty for some blood, but their coven’s second-in-command, Isis, had forbidden it for that night. He forced himself to hold his breath, just so he could ignore his bloodlust. He needed to forget just for that night. Their coven leader, Canaan, had not returned to their hideout for the evening --- or so, Isis put it.
Either way, they needed him to lead their hunt, but he wasn’t there.
“Dammit, Rory. You can last one night.” Rinali snapped at her vampiric brother. Her eyes shifted colors from black to blood red, showing no impatience for food. “After all, what is one night to us who have lived for ages, unchanged by time?”
“Shut up, Rin.” He growled. Rory was irritated and wasn’t afraid to express it toward his coven sister. “If it wasn’t for stupid Isis following whatever Canaan says, this wouldn’t be a problem right now.”
“At least, she isn’t a wicked stepmother.” Rinali mumbled sourly, “Then, we’d have hunger pains every damned day of our lives.”
