what is marriage to you?

For my Thinking and Writing class, we have been reading essays on Gender in terms of sexism (from the male AND female perspective), sexual identity, and marriage.  It was interesting to listen to my classmates and their views on marriage, i.e. same-sex marriage, divorce, and the effect these things have on children.  I'm interested in reading more ( Read more... )

To me marriage is about spending your future with someone you love and are happy. To me I don't GET why people say you should stay married even if you no longer love each other or fall for someone else. Even if you can still be best friends and no abuse is happening and can work though your problems/arguments eventually with help or time, if there isn't any love there isn't any reason to be together. WHY subject yourself to mediocrity/settle when if divorced you can look for true happiness?
Yes people fall in love and out again, staying married seems to be a punishment for falling in love with the wrong person in the first place.

As for the bible.... I really can't understand it either. HOW can people say only some things are right and others wrong (women no longer property or women in Men's clothing no longer an abomination) yet disagree with someone else that doesn't see homosexuality as sinful?

If you can question one part, you open it up to interpretation of ALL and should accept other's interpretations as just as valid as your
