So, has anyone else seen the anime "Gun X Sword"?

Having watched the series (only 26 eps) all I want to know is, what does Van look like without his hat? Only a couple of times in the series have I seen his hat not on his head, but Van's not shown. That being said he has a really cool hat and he often sports a gunslinger pose when drawing his sword. It looks like a belt before he whip-snaps into a ( Read more... )

That plot summary! So ridiculous! (Uh, do not read that as a bad thing. I readily describe most of the things I like as ridiculous.) Revenge is classic story thing. It doesn't matter if it's been done a million times before because everything's been done before. What matters is if you enjoyed what they did with the idea of revenge.

Might have to put this on the list of anime to watch maybe someday. I haven't really watched anime in ages. Too expensive a hobby in a pre-Netflix and pre-DSL era in my life so I kinda gave it up outta necessity. (Marathoned my way through Utena online a few months ago, though, because I'd never seen it and it was/is considered something of a classic and I was having a serious case of the blahs.)
Not sure if I like battle-of-the-week style shows anymore. But, on the other hand: revenge! gunswordslinger! enigmatic murderer! tuxedo?

I know. ::grins:: I brushed it off when first read it, but couldn't get the title out of my mind. I like the way revenge was handled in this.

I think that was one of the reasons I haven't watched anime in years. Right, I can understand that, it gets old after a bit. Only some of the episodes are like that. In other eps while there are mech battles they focus more on the characters than on the battle, not sure how else to explain that. But most of the episodes have something that moves the plot along or that is used later in the series. (Sorry about the odd sentence structure)

The title of the first ep is called Tuxedo Blowing in the Wind

I'll admit to being a bit obsessed with this series. <.<

Oh, I know that they usually get some plot stuff in there too. Most shows with a big arc do a series of mini-conflicts peppered with plot and character development until the end of the season/show Big Boss Battle. (this applies to shows where the heroes aren't literally having fights as well.) Sometimes anime (and maybe cartoons in general) can get very formulaic in episode structure plus they'll do sorta, I guess budget-saving things where they'll do the big magical girl transformation or heroic power-up thing and use the same bit of animation over and over. (Utena had a few of these. Sometimes I would get lunch when I knew one was about to start because nothing plot relevant was going to happen for a bit. Utena is from like the 90's or something, so maybe that's no longer quite so in vogue, but it's the only anime I've watched recently and it kinda reminded me of some of things I didn't like about anime or I discovered I no longer had the patience for!) Anyway, hope this doesn't sound like I am criticizing you or a show I haven't ( ... )

It's fine, this way I know where you stand, which sounds weird now that I've typed it. I appreciate the honesty. ::grins:: Sorry if this comes out odd and incoherent, wanted to respond while I was thinking about it ( ... )
