Once Upon a Time - Lacey Review

I truly loved this episode! It has taken me forever to write something up about it but I've finally finished. *whew* Now it's time to work on The Evil Queen. :)

I agree. Belle keeps getting . . . shelved. I think they have a lot of characters and put them on hold sometimes. Like August. And Mulan and Aurora, goodness.

I've been wondering about Lacey. That's Belle's true self? Hard drinking and fascinated with bad boys? Okaaay. But then why didn't she marry Gaston? Hee.

I get why Belle or Lacey fell for him. But didn't he fall for her because she was good and believed in him, all of him? She believed in his good side too. Not so much with Lacey but he's with her anyway.

I'm not worried about her forgiving him. I'm worried about her forgiving herself. How dark can she go? Will that be okay with her integrated self? Her memories are coming back. I hope she can rest well with them.

They had the stop-start issue last season but it was much more noticeable this season because they shelved characters for much longer. Having SO MANY characters to serve that you forget rather important ones for several episodes at a time is a hint to have less characters. Mulan and Aurora at least make sense - they are in FTL present and we wouldn't expect to see them week to week

I'd actually be curious to see Belle do something really bad. Why? Well, it would add another layer to her character and second, she'd understand what happened to Rumpel from the inside. How his desire to protect his son and be strong for him went so terribly wrong.

But I doubt she'll do anything too bad. :-)

You say that it's not Belle's true self, but in your review you said it's her true essence. What's the difference?

don't like lacey. don't like de ravin even more. making faces is not actor's play. absolutely.

Ah, well. I like Lacey and I like Emilie and her on show chemistry with Robert. I think Lacey is an excellent way to explore the Rumbelle relationship and I only wish they had started that arc much sooner. (At the very least it would have reduced her inexplicable hospital stay.)

Anyway, I'd be very surprised if Lacey is around after the finale so she'll be gone soon!

still dislike de ravin's actor ability. but seems she really likes robert very much. as a consequence of this, they have chemistry between them which wisible on the screen. that helps a lot.

The nice, non-threatening shopkeeper isn't who he is and isn't who Belle fell in love with. He has forgotten that she fell for the complicated, difficult, annoying, and dangerous but layered Dark One who she couldn't quite figure out. Belle likes a challenge and so does Lacey.

Thanks! A little bit bumbling and unsure around Belle is part of who he is but far from all of him. If that was it Belle would have been bored as much as Lacey was. (Though she would have been nicer about it I'm sure.)

You should totally make a READ icon of Belle with one of her books!

I know a lot of fans are upset about the storyline but I personally wish it was a longer arc. At the very least it would have given Belle (or Lacey rather) something to do for the past several episodes. And I do also think from a relationship development standpoint it will be a good thing. They've been rather on eggshells around each other this season and they need to get over that.

Maybe I will. *g* Once the season is over I do want to make another icon batch, picking and choosing from the second half of the season for favorite caps and scenes.
